"Today Adam Gets His Hair Cut" is the first single off of Shorthand Phonetics' 4th album "Errors in Calculating Odds, Errors in Calculating Value".
The A-Side, "Today Adam Gets His Hair Cut," is a 2-and-a-half minute shot of intravenous power pop inspired by an Indonesian short film by I Wayan Andrew Handisurya titled "Hari Ini Adam Potong Rambut," which incidently literally translates into "Today Adam Gets His Hair Cut". The song is written from the perspective of Hanabishi Hideaki, a fictional character in the universe all Shorthand Phonetics' songs are set in.
The B-Side, "Our Batch Loves You, Hashimoto Arimi-sempai!!!," is an acoustic tribute to a vocal group impressario in the author's university. In universe, Arimi-sempai is Hanabishi Hideaki's senior and holds consecutive victories in the annual Eiroku University Vocal Group Competition.
